Who?

Dylon Feyen is a Toronto based artist with a masters of architecture and a passion for our built world. Living in Ontario, Feyen constructs expressive mixed media works inspired by the province’s diverse landscapes. His art fixates on spatial relationships, employing architectural skills to exhibit concepts of scale and proportion.
While his primary medium is acrylics, Feyen often breaks the boundaries of his working surface, incorporating three-dimensional aspects that bring greater focus to unseen elements of our built environment.
In his recent series of works, the infrastructural connections binding our varied landscapes become grand gestures and monuments in themselves. Using coloured threads he weaves and sews architectural elements into his painted canvas, further pushing the boundaries between two-dimensional and sculptural art.
Feyen’s textured impressionist paintings capture moments of contention where human activity carves itself into the natural world and nature resists. His work invites viewers to reconsider the complex interplay between built and natural environments, a theme that has fascinated him since childhood explorations of Ontario’s urban and rural spaces.
