Early compositional work exploring architecture and a typical still life subject. In this drawing several angles and rendering techniques are illustrated to construct a three dimensional understanding to the piece of fruit. The placement of a window on the side gives the pear an unusual sense of scale, while the directionality of the windswept curtains indicate a potential energy within the pear, or possibly an inversion of space when composed next to the realistic painting centered on the canvas.
